Do you plan to buy a laptop? Before doing so, equip yourself first with the right features to look for when buying a laptop!
Buying a laptop from the Apple store should not be done impulsively. There are a lot of things that need to be reviewed and thought about before buying a laptop. If you are planning to buy a laptop, here the things you need to consider and look for to be able to get the best laptop that suits you and your needs.
Battery: Choose a laptop with a long battery life so that you can maximize the use of your laptop, especially when you are traveling and there are no power outlets available. Depending on the brand and model of laptops, battery life varies from 2 to 4 hours. Also, you can always buy an extra battery for your laptop that you can use in cases of emergency.
Processor: Choose a laptop designed with a processor that uses mobile technology, allowing you to take advantage of the true essence of laptops which is portability. They are often labeled with the word “Mobile” in them. Your best bets for processors are Athlon XP Mobile and Mobile Intel Pentium 4, which run cooler and use less power.
Memory or RAM: Choose a laptop with an internal memory or RAM of NOT less than 512 MB. This should allow you download music and play digital videos. However, as a general rule, the larger the memory of your laptop, the better. Beware though that larger price comes with larger memory.
Hard Drive: If you are to use your laptop for basic applications only like web surfing and office applications, then having a hard drive of 20GB is more than enough for your programs and files. However, if you will use your laptop for storing digital photos, video files, and even databases, you may want to choose one with a larger hard drive like 40, 60, or even 120GB.
Graphics Card: Choose a laptop with a graphics card that contains a dedicated memory of 32 or 64MB. This should be very helpful for providing high-quality images, especially if you are into gaming.
Screen Size: When choosing for a laptop’s screen size, take into consideration your purpose. If you want a portable laptop that you can easily bring along anywhere you go, then choose one with a screen size of 12-14 inches. Such laptops are often sleek and lightweight. However, if resolution and readability of content are more important to you, then opt for a laptop with a larger screen size, say 15 to 17 inches.
Optical Drives: Make sure that your laptop is equipped with a built-in optical drive. Choose DVD-ROM over CD-ROM as the former is more advanced and greatly in use than the latter. It would be better If you can have it as a writer so you can easily store files on DVDs.
USB Ports: Choose a laptop that comes with several USB ports that will provide you an easy connection to other peripherals like mouse, external drives, and others.
Wireless Technology: Choose a laptop that is built with wireless technology, allowing you to connect to the Internet without using cables or cords.
While there are other things to consider when choosing the right laptop for you, the above are the most essential things you should look for. Now, if you have fully decided which laptop brand and model to buy, head out to your nearest Apple store and get that laptop of your choice before somebody beats you to it! ;)
